B&B Accommodation on the Somme at Orchard Farm
Martin and Kate Pegler welcome you to Orchard Farm, which is set deep in the heart of the Great War battlefields of the Somme. From the moment you arrive at our traditional courtyard farmhouse in the village of Combles, on the Circuit de Souvenir, we will ensure that your holiday is relaxed and enjoyable.
Whether you have booked bed and breakfast accommodation in the main house or have chosen our self-catering apartment (or gite in French) in The Hayloft you will find everything you need at your fingertips including non-stop complimentary Yorkshire Tea and French coffee, cold beers and wine.
You can enjoy the peace and quiet of our terrace overlooking the orchard which is full of birdsong and pre-dates the first world war or sit in our cosy lounge with its wood fire for those cooler evenings.
Our home is the perfect location in the Somme region from which to base your exploration of the Great War battlefields. As a professional historian, author and militaria specialist for the BBC TV's Antiques Roadshow, Martin enjoys sharing his passion and knowledge of the Great War with guests. We can recommend places to visit in the area and offer our own DIY Tour Sheet. We are available to answer any questions about the first world war and to help you plan your visit to this peaceful landscape so that you make the most of your time and do not miss anything important.
Martin offers bespoke Tours of the area by car or motorcycle but can also give advice on what to see and do if you wish to do your own exploring.
As lifelong motorcyclists, we pride ourselves on being biker friendly and have covered bike parking on hardstanding, a bike trailer in case of a local breakdown and a workshop for emergency repairs.
We are told that we are not like a 'normal' B&B which we take as a compliment!
